On Monday, July 28, 2025, the Libyan Investment Authority (LIA) held a ceremony to mark the receipt of the external auditor’s report on the financial statements of the Long-Term Investment Portfolio (LTP). The event was attended by the Chairman of the LIA’s Board of Trustees, LIA’s Board of Directors, LTP’s Board of Directors, representatives of LIA’s subsidiaries, as well as representatives from the international audit firm EY.

The Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity and Chairman of the LIA’s Board of Trustees, Eng. Abdulhamid Dbeibeh, emphasized in his remarks the importance of this milestone in enhancing transparency and adherence to international standards. He also noted the recent commendation by the United Nations Security Council regarding the enhancement of governance, transparency, and compliance with the Santiago Principles across the LIA Group.

For his part, the Chairman of the Board and CEO of the LIA, Dr. Ali Mahmoud Hassen, stated that the audited financial statements by EY represent a pivotal step toward strengthening partnerships and attracting investments, reflecting the LIA’s commitment to governance and accountability.

The Chairman of the Board and CEO of the LTP, Mr. Abdelfattah El-Saghir Ghafar, highlighted that preparing the financial statements in accordance with international standards- for the first time- is a significant achievement despite challenges, and confirmed that work is ongoing to complete the audit of the financials through the end of 2024.

The event also featured a presentation by EY on the audited statements, followed by a discussion with the audit team regarding audit methodologies and compliance frameworks.

This achievement is the result of a comprehensive strategic vision aimed at promoting transparency, enhancing governance, and reinforcing the LIA’s position among the world’s leading sovereign wealth funds.
